The Garou

The only Tribe of werewolves with a lot of experience with the Underworld is the Silent Striders. However, they have a lot of experience, and are fairly knowledgeable about what goes on there, and what could be coming down the pipe. They are also fairly resourceful, not to mention quite dedicated to their calling.

So were the Shroud to be threatened by the primal darkness, there's a good chance that the Striders would convene a Grand Moot of their Tribe and come up with some sort of plan. They might even be able to get other Tribes in on it, though the likelihood of that is fairly remote, given how the Garou are. And if the work of reinforcing the barrier between the worlds requires sacrifice, then they'll gladly make it.

That's provided they want to play nice with others, however. The primary enemy of the Garou is the Wyrm, and while Oblivion and the Wyrm might be two faces of the same force - or at least kissing cousins - they aren't truly one and the same; In the end, when the Wyrm has nothing left to eat but itself, it will do so, and then fall into Oblivion's waiting maw.

Keeping that in mind, the Striders might decide to let the Shroud fall to Oblivion. Having this cosmic disaster happen "early" would give the Wyrm a deadline, forcing it to act both quickly and rashly in order to eat as much as it can before Oblivion appears to eat it in turn. This could give the Tribe a chance to pull off some great trick while its foe's attention is hopelessly divided and scattershot.

It would be a huge risk, but in the face of their prophesied Apocalypse they might just be willing to take that gamble and run with it. After all, what do they really have to lose?

{See Apocalypse for what the Silent Striders can ultimately be capable of, as well as an important cameo from an Orpheus entity.}
