Beyond Life

By Boswok

I was a man once, basking in the sun Now I am swallowed by a fog of cold No longer can I taste the life of the world Alone in the darkness, with only a shadow to tend me On the brink of death I was torn from the source My passions separated me by a wall of doubt No longer can I touch the pleasures of mortality The ephemeral world eludes me, its radiance excluding me In the eye of the storm, I stare at a downward spiral Into oblivion I sink, with only a shadow to goad me My inspiration fleeting and my instincts contradicted Cut off from heaven, I wallow in doubt Falling into a darkness, which only my agony can survive
